The Digit-al Dozen does Get To Know Me - Zumba Nails

Hey there!  When I was coming up with Get To Know Me ideas for our Digit-al Dozen theme this month, I wanted to do something to do with the activities I enjoy.  If you've been following me for awhile you might know that my main form of activity for the last 14 years is ultimate frisbee.  Ultimate is my true love thanks to the amazing community involved with it.  BUT ultimate is damn near impossible to translate into nail art so instead I did some nails inspired by the main activity I did the past couple of winters (when ultimate dies down) - Zumba!  I was in dance classes until I was about 14 but never really thought I enjoyed dancing until I started going to Zumba dances.  The music and the movements are so much fun!  I probably look ridiculous doing it but I don't care....it's a blast!

Zumba is all about bright colors and fun so of course I used a bunch of neons in this mani.  But first I started with a white base of Island Girl Pineapple Plantation.  Since Zumba has a lot of island-style music and movements I thought that'd be a fun white to use.

On that I did some gradient stamping with Lina Nail Art Supplies Make Your Mark 02 and Mundo de Unas Neon Yellow, Orange, Pink, Green, Purple and Turquoise.  I also added some dots of the previous color and smooshed them a bit with my finger to make them a bit more splattered.

Then I used black acrylic paint to freehand the Zumba logo and lettering.  Turns out trying to do lettering with my left hand is super challenging but I did it so that I could wear these to my Friday Zumba class and have matching hands.

Now that it's almost May I'm gonna have to trade my gym clothes for my ultimate cleats but I'm sure I'll be back doing Zumba in September (or anytime I have rained out games this summer).  I'd love to hear about any fun activities that any of you do (when you're not spending time doing your nails, of course).

'Til next time...
